I am fortunate to live in an area where the local shopping is excellent. I am just back from an afternoon of such indulgences. Some of the big box stores ignore our smaller towns and that's sometimes all to the good because we are seeing some of the interesting variety that used to only be found in bigger cities.
Today I was in Tipp City and though I only visited a few stores because I had an agenda and time table - I found some great buys. Not just bargains but unique items.
One of my great finds is a fun salvage store called The Iron Dog. It's not merely salvage - although the doors, wood and stone that was available was cool - but also an creative exploration of how to use those salvaged items. The piano bar was the best thing I saw all day.
I highly recommend exploring your area to find the local shops that make it unique. Here are my favorites in Miami County, Ohio. Below are links to some of my favorite shops and restaurants in the Miami County area.
